TIM MASTERSTECK

Tim started playing piano at the age of seven before teaching himself guitar, bass and drums in high school. He spent two years studying jazz piano performance at the New School in New York City, where he was a student of Aaron Goldberg, Sam Yahel, Vijay Iyer and Robert Glasper, before finishing his degree at the University of Denver.

As a keyboard player, Tim has performed with neo-soul singer Eric Roberson, gospel artists Richard Smallwood and Lillian Lloyd, and trumpeter Keyon Harrold. Tim currently co-owns 8 Entertainment Inc, an entertainment company focused on artist development, music production, mixing and mastering and live music. He also serves as the in-house composer and audio engineer of Roger Troutman Legacy Entertainment, an entertainment company founded in collaboration with the estate of the legendary funk pioneer Roger Troutman.

At MI, Tim teaches Digital Music, Synthesis and Sampling, Styles Survey, Latin/Brazilian LPW, R&B/Neo Soul LPW, and keyboard and songwriting private lessons.
