MI SUCCESS STORY: JEFF BUCKLEY

Jeff Buckley remains an enigmatic figure in the world of American singer-songwriters. His father Tim Buckley, was a well-known folk musician, and his mother was a classically trained musician herself. Before breaking into the music world with his iconic debit album, Grace, in 1994, Buckley was another young guitar student at the Guitar Institute of Technology (MI).

Later on in his successful career, Buckley shared his thoughts on going to music school with DoubleTake Magazine in 1996,

“If you have the interest…go to a private teacher, go someplace, some college, and learn theory. That was something I really enjoyed…Theory meaning the meaning of the musical nomenclature. I was attracted to really interesting harmonies, stuff that I would hear in Ravel, Ellington, Bartok.”
