MI SUCCESS STORY: COLE FREDRICK

Guitarist Cole Fredrick (currently of band, Undecided Future) knew from a very early age that he wanted to be a musician. He learned to play the guitar in the third grade, and studied at the Pacific Conservatory for 6 years, becoming the lead guitarist in 5th and 6th grade in his elementary school rock band. This was just the beginning.

He auditioned at the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) and was one of 16 kids accepted into the Guitar Conservatory in 7th grade. He studied and performed in Flamenco, Jazz, Classical and Rock Guitar concerts.

Cole is the winner of Classical guitar awards from competitions in Los Angeles, Inland Empire, Orange County and Brownsville, Texas. During his last 2 years of High School, Cole auditioned and moved to the Commercial Music Conservatory where he studied advanced guitar, singing, songwriting, performance skills, and Pro Tools. Outside of school, Cole was a guitarist for The House of Rock, Covina, CA for 3 years, performing at Disneyland and Disney’s D23 annual convention during the summers of 2014‐16.

Cole soon started thinking about his musical future and said,

“First year of college I attended Cal-Arts, but the workload wasn’t as rigorous as high school, so I decided to move to Hollywood and attend MI where I could focus strictly on furthering my guitar and indie artist skills. I’m loving every minute of it.” He is currently a student in the Independent Study/Guitar program at Musician’s Institute, Hollywood.

Cole is one of the songwriters in Undecided Future, and he helps produce Undecided Future’s original tracks in his home studio. Last year, the band was chosen to compete in Ryan Seacrests’ YouTube original show, Best.Cover.Ever., where they were chosen to perform a duet with Jason Derulo!

Cole says of studying at MI, “The most important thing I’ve learned so far, besides all the great classes and teachers, is that I can reach out and collaborate with producers, sound techs, songwriters, and even local radio stations to interview and try to give my band and band’s original music a push in every direction. MI gives you the tools to basically do whatever you can dream up and execute. There are answers to every musical question here at MI.”
