A musician since the age of 7 and MI graduate (2000), André is a dual citizen of Los Angeles, California and Venice, Italy. He has a Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of California (Davis visiting Berkeley), a BA from UCLA, a paralegal degree, and two certifications in business from the University of California (music business from UCLA Extension and business law from the UC Berkeley Center for Business, Law, and the Economy).
He spent 12+ years negotiating, drafting, and administrating publishing contracts as a music publisher and contract administrator. After that, André worked for two law firms and numerous clients as adviser in the subjects of intellectual property and business. Between 1996 and 2005, he worked behind the camera in major motion pictures.
In 2016 he was a researcher for the United Nations Special Rapporteur in Cultural Rights. His legal research expands from the birth of our intellectual property rights system, to the Napster lawsuit “self-destruction” of the music industry. Among his previous clients are record labels such as Side One Dummy, Kiefer Sutherland’s Ironworks, and Matthew Mcconaughey’s JK Livin’. He assisted entertainment executives such as Anthony Ferguson, Steve Winogradsky, and Jeff Jampol, and worked in production companies such as Deline Pictures at Warner Bros and Playtone (Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman Production Co.)
André teaches law and business courses in both the Music Business Associate degree and Certificate programs at MI.
