Music Business

A musician since the age of 7, Andy is a dual citizen of Los Angeles, California and Venice, Italy. He has a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California (Davis visiting Berkeley), a BA from UCLA, a paralegal degree, and two certifications in business from the University of California (music business from UCLA and business law from the Berkeley Center for Law and Business).

He spent 12+ years negotiating, drafting, and administrating publishing contracts as a music publisher and contract administrator. After that, Andy worked for two law firms and numerous clients in the subjects of intellectual property law and business. Between 1996 and 2005, he worked behind the camera in major motion pictures, as music consultant for independent films, and he worked in-house with production companies such as Deline Pictures at Warner Bros and Playtone (Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman Production Company.)

In 2016 / 2017 he was a researcher for the United Nations Special Rapporteur in Cultural Rights. His legal research expands from the birth of our intellectual property rights system, to the Napster “self-destruction” lawsuit of the music industry. Among his previous clients are record labels such as Side One Dummy, Kiefer Sutherland’s Ironworks, and Matthew McConaughey’s JK Livin’.
