MI SUCCESS STORY: MATT MCJUNKINS

Matt McJunkins first played bass when he was thirteen years old, and he hasn’t stopped since. After high school, he moved to LA to attend Musician’s Institute so he could gain more connections and opportunities in Hollywood, which he undoubtedly did. Since then, Matt has been involved in many diverse projects across the realm of rock music. In 2008, Matt joined Billy Howerdel’s (A Perfect Circle) solo project, Ashes Divide, which released an album and toured around the country.

While on a break from Ashes Divide, Matt was asked to join Maynard James Keenan’s (A Perfect Circle) new project, Puscifer, for their first live tour. In September of 2010, his connection with A Perfect Circle led to a fall tour, for which Matt was asked to join on bass alongside co-founders Billy Howerdel and Maynard James Keenan with Josh Freese(Weezer, NIN) on drums and James Iha(Smashing Pumpkins) on guitar.

Since then, Matt has appeared on countless tours and appearances, performing for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert with Ninet and touring with Thirty Seconds to Mars, and many bands in between.
