MI SUCCESS STORY: RUEBEN COHEN

Since graduating from MI’s Audio Engineering program, Reuben Cohen has seemingly never left the studio with how busy he has kept with high profile projects. After attending MI in 2006, Reuben was hired in the same year at Lurssen Mastering, a mastering studio owned by Gavin Lurssen.For the past 1 years at Lurssen Mastering, Reuben has worked on many albums that have gone on to win major awards in the business.

Reuben was awarded a Latin Grammy in November 2010 for his work on Diego Torres’ album “Distinto,” and a 2014 TEC Award for his work on the single, “Happy,” by Pharrell Williams. He also worked on the soundtrack of the international movie phenomenon Slumdog Millionaire, which won the Grammy for Best Soundtrack in 2010. The soundtrack also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and two Academy Awards, one for Best Original Music Score and the other for Best Original Song for “Jai Ho”.

He has mastered albums, singles and/or compilations for artists such as Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Incubus, Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, Skylar Grey, Ingrid Michaelson, India.Arie and Boyz II Men and multiple soundtracks like Slumdog Millionaire, Pitch Perfect, Minions, Disney’s Tangled and Cars 2, Across The Universe, Game Of Thrones, and more.

Reuben also has mastered many hit radio singles, including, “Nothin’ On You” by B.o.B. featuring Bruno Mars that was nominated for a Grammy in 2011 and “Billionaire” by Travis McCoy featuring Bruno Mars.
