MI SUCCESS STORY: NATE RICH

Nate Rich graduated MI in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Guitar Performance. After being awarded the opportunity to be the commencement speaker at his graduation, Nate was immediately offered a job at Musicians Institute. During his time as an employee, he has written curriculum, traveled to South Korea and China to perform, as well as gained the opportunity to work and play for the Zawinul foundation. Also while at MI, Nate formed his original funk rock band “Prussia” with some fellow Musicians Institute colleagues.

In 2016 the band was awarded a Downbeat Student Award from the prestigious Downbeat magazine for Blues/Pop/Rock outstanding performance. The band recently released their debut EP “Glory Days” which allowed them the opportunity to play several dates on the East and West Coast. More recently, the band was given the distinct honor of playing at the opening of MI’s Joe Zawinul Room that features memorabilia from the late jazz pianist. Outside of all this, Nate plays as a sideman for several local acts, is an internationally distributed film and television composer, and teaches private lessons locally and nationally through skype.
