MI SUCCESS STORY: LARRY WHITT
In 2015, MI alum Larry Whitt celebrated his part in recording the 2015 Grammy Award-winning Best Gospel Album, Erica Campbell’s “Help.” The solo debut from Campbell, a member of duo Mary Mary, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart and #6 on the Billboard 200. Before enrolling at MI, Larry Whitt served in the Navy as part of Operation Enduring Freedom after 9/11. Pursuing his passion for music, he enrolled in both the Audio Engineering and Independent Artist Programs.
During this time, he began to intern at Fever Recording Studios in North Hollywood, and soon after graduating MI, he was promoted to the Chief Engineering position. Since then, Larry has worked with producers and musicians in all genres, including Robert Glasper, Ruben Studdard, PJ Morton, Eric Dawkins, Dave Hollister, and many more. Larry has also made appearances on the reality shows R&B Divas LA and Mary Mary.
