While the pandemic isn’t over yet, Los Angeles County and California state have been making great strides in moving forward into a post-COVID reality.
According to the L.A. Times, California has one of the lowest COVID-19 case rates in the entire country, with only 11 positive cases per every 100,000 people.
In Los Angeles County, (as of June 8, 2021) only 0.3% of COVID tests were positive, meaning that widespread vaccinations have been working in keeping the transmission and positivity rates low. While the stats are all looking promising, California governor Gavin Newsom is proceeding with caution.
“This disease has not been extinguished,” he said in L.A. Times. “It’s not vanished. It’s not taking the summer months off.”
