MI SUCCESS STORY: KYLE BLACK

After studying at the Bass Encore program at MI, Kyle Black has gone on to find success as a multi-hyphenate in the business as a producer, engineer, mixer and mastering engineer. He began his music career as a bass and guitar player in bands throughout high school and he eventually moved on to work on the other side of the board. He got his start in the engineering side by being assistant engineer to Mike Green, who has worked with Sum 41, All Time Low and more. Mike has been earning his own credits since 2009 (Paramore, Pierce The Veil, New Found Glory and 5 Seconds of Summer) and has been in such a strong demand, he decided to open his own studio.

“In the course (of study at MI), not only did I learn invaluable bass techniques from fantastic teachers,” said Kyle, “I learned the ins and outs and music theory and ear training; all of which is critical knowledge that I put into practice producing and mixing records every day.”
