Through The Lens is our weekly series where we highlight current students and faculty, capture them on campus and ask them about their inspirations, advice and beyond.
The Musicians to whom I admire the most are Dennis Chambers, Gergo Borlai, Richard Bona, Joe Zawinul and Paco sery, Nathaniel Townsley, these musicians inspire me the most. I was totally attracted to their music and been listening to it all my teenage life and even now. Main reason behind listening to these guys is that they are extremely unique in what they do. They don’t sound like any other musician, they sound different than everyone,they sound like themselves. And I really appreciate the originality and pure passion and that’s what I wanna do, my own voice, free expression. I really respect my teacher back in India Mr Pankaj Sharma who taught me to be unique and search, create and project your own sound and your own music.
What is your fondest music memory?
My most fondest musical memories was playing drums for my mother while she cooks sings and we would jam a lot over the Indian folk songs and she was encouraged me alot. As my father is also a percussionist I would go watch him play. Giging with my Indian Classical / Fusion Band and create alot of music my Band. All these things were so amazing and inspired me to be better and better on drums.

In day I try to practice as much as I can but I atleast try to practice for 2 hours on the weekdays and more during the weekends
The main reason that brought me to MI were all the Musicians from my country wh to are MI aluminis like Gino Banks, Jai Row Kavi, Dhruv Ghanekar, Ehsaan Noraani, Shruti Hassan. I was really amazed by how they used to perform and read their articles and they mentioned about MI. And finally me and father we both made the decision to come to MI.
