MARKO DeSANTIS

Best known as the lead guitarist of modern rock band Sugarcult, Marko DeSantis has forged a successful, multifaceted career in the music industry. With Sugarcult, Marko has recorded four major label records, two DVDs and toured internationally since 2001. In addition, Sugarcult has sold over a million records; headlined their own tours; played notable festivals around the world (Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, Summersonic, Warped Tour, Voodoo, Soundwaves, etc.), and were the opening act on Green Day’s “American Idiot” USA/Japan tours, and Blink 182’s farewell European tour.

Prior to his career in Sugarcult, Marko wrote, recorded, and performed with national acts such The Ataris, Bad Astronaut, Nerf Herder and Swingin’ Utters.Beyond his career as a touring and recording artist, Marko has run two independent record labels; mentored/developed artists; written for music magazines; hosted his own radio programs; promoted concert events; and has been invited to be a guest speaker for several music industry conventions and institutions.

At Musicians Institute, Marko teaches and mentors in the Artist Development department.
