GREG WEISS

Greg Weiss grew up in Miami, and at an early age felt the influence of Jaco Pastorius. Greg studied at Miami Dade College and is the son of successful songwriter Larry Weiss, who wrote the hit song “Rhinestone Cowboy”.

Greg’s versatility and depth encompasses many styles including Metal, Rock, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Middle Eastern, Reggae, Native American, and World Music.

As the founding member of the band Speak No Evil (Universal Records), Greg performed live shows with System of a Down, Megadeth, Staind, and Papa Roach. He has performed clinics at MI with Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Ray Luzier (Korn, David Lee Roth) and Tony Royster (Jay Z).

Currently, Greg provides Background Music for TV and Film, as a composer for Telepictures Music, and NOMA Music. He has placed music on MADTv, TMZ, EXTRA, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, HBO’s “Working Girls in Bed”, and the film “High School”. Greg’s vocal skills have enabled him to work with Dez Fafara (vocalist from Devildriver, Coal Chamber). He has earned an Assistant Production credit for engineering the Vocal demos for Devildriver – “Beast” 2011, and “Pray For Villains” 2009 (Roadrunner records).

Greg also sings lead and plays bass in original 3-piece metal group Last Great Nation. He also sings lead for House of Zombie which features Ivan De Prume, the original drummer from White Zombie. At MI, Greg teaches Bass Private Lessons, Harmony and Theory, Ear Training, Artist Development, Musicianship for the Audio Engineering, DJ, and Independent Artist Programs, and in the Modern Rock, Rock Repertoire, Jazz Improv, and the One World Live Performance Workshops.
