MI SUCCESS STORY: RON AVANT

Ron Avant attended MI for the Associate of Arts Keyboard Performance program and very soon found himself playing keyboard for some big names in the hip-hop and R&B world. One of his biggest gigs has been touring with the legendary Snoop Dogg, which took him all around the globe, including Europe, Asia, Africa and the U.S. They appeared on the “Guitar Center Sessions” live from SXSW, where Snoop and the band performed hits like “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”

Ron also performed with jazz group Supa Lowery Bros, who played on Dave Chappelle’s 2014 comedy special at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Ron has previously toured with classic hip-hop group The Pharcyde, and he has collaborated on tracks with Chris Brown, Bobby Brown, Macy Gray and Jhene Aiko featuring Kendrick Lamar. Currently, Ron can be found playing for Fergie while supporting her latest album, Double Dutchess, and is the keyboardist in fellow MI alumni Anderson Paak’s band, The Free Nationals.
