MI SUCCESS STORY: KAITIE SLY
Alumna Kaitie Sly graduated the with the Outstanding Student Award when she completed an AA in Bass Performance. Since graduation, she has written six volumes on the electric bass. Her books are available via Amazon and Barnes & Noble for Kindle Readers: (Beginner Series: Bass Method). The book series has been favorably reviewed by some of the industry’s top bassists such as Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets), Ernest Tibbs (Allan Holdsworth, Gladys Knight, Lee Ritenour, etc.) and Brian Allen (Robben Ford).
Since completing her studies, she has worked as a bass session musician, teacher and performer in Canada and the USA. She has been a session bassist for artists such as The Controversy, The Khourys and Mimi Page. Her original music has been featured in media for companies in Canada – Maple Leaf Powder Co. and the Province of B.C. As a solo-artist, her self- titled EP was released in September 2016. Sly, along with fellow MI alumnus Sandesh Nagaraj, write and perform in their duo project, Syreim. Their debut music video premiered on Rolling Stone and the EP was released in November 2016.
