MI’s 4-quarter Artist/Producer/Entrepreneur Certificate Program (APE) builds on the original 2-quarter IAP, meant to give students further technical knowledge and professional skills to thrive as an independent recording artists and/or music industry professionals.

Our experienced instructors guide you through the complete creative process from songwriting, arranging, recording and production to marketing and promotion. Whether you are a singer, DJ, producer, rapper or instrumentalist, the APE prepares you to take control of your future and enter today’s music industry.

By offering a comprehensive curriculum that covers both the creative and business aspects of the music industry, MI’s APE curriculum equips students with the skills and knowledge they need to become a successful musical entrepreneur. With a focus on mastering the best practices for marketing and promoting their music, students develop the skills necessary to build a successful career as a musician in today’s competitive industry. Whether you’re an aspiring producer, songwriter, or performer, the APE curriculum provides a solid foundation for achieving your goals and thriving as a professional in the music industry.

Instrumentalists, singers, songwriters, rappers, DJs and producers learn the entire process of creating their own project—from writing and recording to marketing, publicity, website design and final release. This course is designed to equip musicians with the various skills needed to independently write, record and market their original material to become musician entrepreneurs.

MI SELECT & NON-CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

MI Select are non-certificate courses designed to provide students with “a taste of MI” if they want another option to full-time. Students can create their own customized schedule from available classes and workshops, while enjoying access to the special guest clinics, extra activities and other industry networking opportunities.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: CERTIFICATE
Musicians Institute programs are fast paced and certain fundamental musical skills are required before you can begin your program. If you meet entry requirements and are accepted, a one-on-one performance evaluation and placement testing will be held during registration to determine whether you qualify for advanced placement in any area of course work. You are evaluated based on the content of your submission.

This DJ Performance and Production lab facility features Mac workstations equipped with MIDI controllers, Ableton Live 10 Suite, and Ableton PUSH 2 controllers. The Lab also features an NFUZD electronic drum kit, a PA system, and Mackie HR824 Studio monitors.
