MI Hosts Third Annual OLE Pop/Urban Song Camp

|    Sep 21, 2009

From September 21-28, MI and co-sponsor Foxx King Entertainment will be hosting the third annual OLE Pop/Urban Song Camp, bringing together 24 hit songwriters from Canada, the US, UK and Europe.

The Song Camp schedule calls for five days of writing (at least one song per day) and two days for creating demos and rough mixes before a final wrap party at Hollywood's Geisha House. Each day begins with an A&R/label/artist listening session at 11am followed by writing sessions at noon. MI will provide studio gear and instruments; experienced demo vocalists to record any songs as needed; an engineer to mix tracks and prepare the studio for writers; plus studio staff, interns and runners to support the “campers.” All songs written during the camp will be compiled and sent to each participating publisher/writer. The target is to create 35-40 new copyrights for the purposes of exploitation via records, TV and film.

Confirmed writers include Aimme Proal (Kelly Clarkson), Alex Greggs (South Rakkas Crew, Backstreet Boys, MIA), Alonzo (Eva Avila, Melissa O'Neil), Beau Doxier (Joss Stone, Omarion), Bluetooth (Chris Brown, Jordin Sparks), David Kopatz (Corbin Bleu, Jordin Sparks), Dru (DRU, In Essence), JC Smith (The Hills, Degrassi), Justin Forsley (Shiloh, Massari), Lauren Evans (Rodney Jerkins), Rosemarie Tan (Danity Kane), Shane Stevens (Jordin Sparks, Gloriana & Kelly Pickler), Stacy Barthe (BEP, Keri Hilson), Steph Jones (Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks), Steven Lee Olsen (Westlife, Steven Lee), Tebey (The Dolly Rockers, Teairra Mari & Flo Rida), and Tiffany Fred (Jennifer Hudson, Teairra Mari & Flo Rida).

Foxx King Entertainment is providing additional writers including Darhio (J Holiday), Wow Jones, Kevin Barnes (MTV), Sonyae Elise (Sonyae Elise, Mobb Deep), Taleen (Taleen), The Write Chix (So You Think You Can Dance), Sydney Nycole and more. Follow the action at www.twitter.com/olesongcamp.

OLE’s mission is to bring together world-class Pop/Urban Music songwriters; to integrate songwriting talent into the U.S., UK and international markets through collaborations with top songwriters, major recording artists and music industry executives and to build an international infrastructure to channel Pop/Urban writers and their songs into foreign markets.
