Ivan Zawinul teaches Recording Theory Techniques, Console Operations, Monitor Operations, Intro to Live Sound, and The Business of Audio at MI. As an engineer, producer & keyboard technician, he has more than 20 years of touring experience in over 90 countries. He has worked with classical, symphonic, jazz and world musicians including his father, Joe Zawinul, as well as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, John McLaughlin, Dizzy Gillespie, Carlos Santana, Seth MacFarlane, Andy Garcia, Kenny Burrell and many others.
In addition to working at most major music festivals, Ivan has experience at venues such as Catalina Jazz Club, the Eli Broad Theater in Santa Monica, Music Room Studios. He has produced, recorded and mixed 13 internationally released albums, four of which were Grammy-nominated, including his engineering work with Joe Zawinul and The Zawinul Syndicate (“My People”). Ivan is also Head Engineer and Technical Producer for the Central Avenue Jazz Festival in Los Angeles.
