Mitch Pierson Hired by Engine Room Studios
Nov 11, 2008

Mitch Pierson (Audio Engineering) has been hired by Engine Room Studios as an Assistant Sound Editor following his internship at the studio during the program. “I do everything that the average studio intern would do, including keeping the studio clean and presentable, making food and beverage runs, and filing, among other things. I have also had the pleasure of working on 3 full-length films: The Killing Room, War Wolves, and Green Street Hooligans 2. For these films I spent a lot of my time making detailed lists of sound effects to be re-recorded. I was able to sit in and was even allowed to engineer one of the re-recording sessions. After the sounds were recorded, it was my job to edit them, including placing them into their proper places in the film, and passing on finished material to the sound designer or mix engineer. I also engineered a voice-over session for The Killing Room, which will be released into theaters. War Wolves will be on the Sci-Fi Channel and DVD.”

Mitch secured the job through perseverance. “I made myself available nearly 24 hours a day,” he reported. “There were plenty of times [the studio manager] tested me to see how committed I was. He would call me randomly at 8:30 on a Sunday night, and tell me he needed help. When I'd show up, he'd have me put a box in his car or something - I did it with a smile, and was on my way.”

“More and more of the auditions I’m having for recording artists are turning out to be MI class reunions. The graduates of MI have been dominating the new, young music scene in LA”.
