Matt Kennedy Joins Vanacore Music

|    Jan 03, 2012

Matt Kennedy (Audio Engineering ’12) has been hired as a composer for Vanacore Music, a music library that also provides custom scoring and music supervising services for film and television. Vanacore’s music has been featured on series including Survivor, The Apprentice/Celebrity Apprentice, Big Brother, America’s Next Top Model, and more.

Matt was hired after submitting his music in October during MI’s Music Library Marathon, hosted by the Artist & Career Services Department. “I actually only found out about the opportunity on the last day that submissions were due,” said Matt. “I submitted seventeen 30-second cues and made it in just under the deadline.” Matt’s music was accepted and he subsequently went on to interview with several music supervisors, including one from Vanacore Music. “They offered me an interview, so I drove up to their office in Valencia and they ended up offering me a job.” Matt’s position includes composing in a variety of the different genres that make up Vanacore’s catalog.

Prior to joining Vanacore, Matt performed in the alternative rock band The Graduate, which was signed to Razor & Tie records. Since that band’s breakup, Matt and other members have re-formed under the name The Sun and The Sea and expect to release a new album in 2012.
