Josh Schroeder Managing Cryptogramophone Records

Josh Schroeder (Independent Artist) is currently managing Cryptogramophone Records, among a variety of other music-industry endeavors. He recently checked in with this summary of life since MI:

“It’s been an exciting rollercoaster with all the ups, downs, and in-between's that anyone would expect while pursuing their goals as an artist in the music business. I have been managing Cryptogramophone Records for nearly two years now and it has allowed me to grow as an industry professional and also has given me the opportunity to stay in LA while I pursue the artist side of things! Through MI (and with the help of [MI Internship Coordinator] Chris Fletcher), I was able to intern with a music publisher and I was acquainted with many music professionals that helped to connect me with a few co-writes with published songwriters! It was around the end of my time at MI in 2007 that I became an honored member of ASCAP's prestigious Lester Sill Songwriting Workshop. The group was comprised of 14 other songwriters and we met twice a week for a month-long class and were introduced to a multitude of special guests, including well established songwriters, publishers, music supervisors, and label representatives. 

“Through various co-writes and connections I garnered the attention of a music publisher in Toronto whom I've been working with for the past year. They have been active in pitching my music for Film/TV, have flown me to Toronto for a writers’ retreat where I cowrote/produced with and for some of Canada's leading songwriters and producers, and also helped me to land my first sync for a CBS TV series called Flashpoint. I've also done some "write-to-task" work for them, producing and writing for TV ads and played one of their showcases in Toronto.

“I also played a showcase at Bar 1-to-1 in Austin, TX at the 2009 SXSW festival and I'm scheduled to fly up to Toronto in mid June 09 for a whole week to work with a well-known Canadian Music Supervisor, an EMI artist, a producer from Canadian Idol, and I'll be attending various industry events at Toronto's NXNE Festival. They have also planned for me to perform at a showcase that will be attended by various music industry professionals in the Toronto area as well as some of the biggest Ad companies in all of Canada.

“I recently independently released my self-produced/engineered Solo EP Love is a Shade. It is available on CDBaby.com and will be available for digital download at a variety of digital retailers including iTunes. I've also started working with a new band on new material for an EP that will feature some of my collaborative work with them. We recently recorded at Satellite Park studios in Malibu with the amazing Paul Roessler and we're looking forward to finishing the record sometime in mid-July.”
