Guillermo Badolato (GIT '92)

Since graduating from GIT in 1992, Spanish guitarist Guillermo Badolato has been working steadily as a guitarist and composer. Besides gigs in Spain as a sideman for other artists and with his own bands, in recent years Guillermo and his keyboard-playing brother Jorge have been composing, arranging and producing CDs for international music libraries including Sonoton (Germany) and British Audio. Their arrangements, ranging from rhythm section and vocals to full symphony orchestra, have been featured on productions for such clients as Microsoft and Schweppes. More library CDs are in the works, as well as an original progressive rock album and live gigs with some of Spain’s top rhythm section players. Reflecting on his experience at GIT, Guillermo says, "I found the GIT experience greatly helped me in learning and organizing a lot of things in my head, and provided the knowledge a player really needs to use in the real world. Besides all the technical aspects of the instrument and music theory, MI trains students to be good musicians, which is what really counts. The great thing for me is that I could later apply what I learned as a composer/producer, being able to create and record tracks as diverse as acoustic flamenco, fusion, blues, rock, funk and everything in between. It was one of the greatest times of my life for sure!"
