Douglas Showalter Leads Multi-Faceted Music Career

|    Oct 22, 2009

Douglas Showalter (Guitar) is preparing for the December release of new CDs with his current projects Classics and Elemay, each featuring other MI alumni; along with maintaining a multi-faceted career as a guitarist, songwriter, producer, composer, and music instructor.

“My main motivation for moving to Los Angeles from central Indiana was to attend MI, where I graduated with honors in March 2007,” said Douglas. “My time at MI was pivotal in providing me with the experience, skills, and network I needed to move forward into the professional world of music. Since graduating from MI, I have been able to tour all over North America, do a wealth of TV and radio performances, work with many of my favorite artists, and also develop my own skills as an artist and producer. The people I met at MI set the pace for what has become a very rewarding and ever-growing career.”

Aside from his original projects, Douglas has also been actively performing and touring with artists like Anjulie (http://www.myspace.com/anjulie), Van Hunt (http://vanhunt.com), Gavin Castleton (http://gavincastleton.com.), and Cameron Rafati (http://www.cameronrafati.com).  He has appeared on movie soundtracks (Fame) as well as radio and TV spots for MTV-U, KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic", Universal, Warner Bros., Virgin Radio (Toronto) and more; composed and produced tracks for artists, commercials, and films; and provided online lessons for GuitarTricks.com

“More and more of the auditions I’m having for recording artists are turning out to be MI class reunions. The graduates of MI have been dominating the new, young music scene in LA”.
