Showcase Winners Eleni, Acidic Prep for College Touring

|    Jun 22, 2010

On Saturday, March 12, Coast to Coast Music hosted an artist showcase at MI’s Concert Hall, with winners eligible to vie for performance slots at the NACA College Booking Showcase in November.

Three acts were chosen from Musician Institute student and alumni submissions and three from a contest conducted by Sonic Bids, with each artist performing three songs. Winning from the MI talent pool was Eleni, a pop/punk singer/songwriter who is currently attending MI’s Audio Engineering program. Eleni had previously tied for first place at MI’s Artist Development Showcase in March and her songs have been featured in the original series 10 Things I Hate About You (ABC Family) and on MTV’s The Real World: Cancun. The Sonic Bids winner was Acidic, a young LA-based alternative rock band that has performed at the Western Fairs Conference & SXSW.

Chris Fletcher, CEO of Coast to Coast Music (as well as an MI instructor and Internship Coordinator) said, “We wanted to provide exposure for some talented new artists who are ready to start touring the college market. If they are chosen to showcase at NACA, the bands will perform for more than seventy west coast college bookers, which will lead to some great tours in 2011.” Coast to Coast will represent the bands, help the winners develop their stage show, promote their music to west coast college radio and press, and coordinate college bookings on the west coast for the next year.

“More and more of the auditions I’m having for recording artists are turning out to be MI class reunions. The graduates of MI have been dominating the new, young music scene in LA”.
