MBP Students Promote “Virtual Client”
May 19, 2003

The MI Music Business Program (MBP) Special Projects Class, under the leadership of MBP Department Head Kenny Kerner, has been tasked to promote L.A. pop-rock band FLETCHER following the release of their self-produced debut album, Demonstrations of False Momentum.

FLETCHER initially came to the attention of MI MBP staff after their song “Simple Sugar” was selected to appear on MI’s original music collection, MI CD Volume 4. The band recently performed a private showcase for MBP Special Projects Class students followed by a Q&A / strategy session between students and bandleader John Bennett. MBP students have since begun working hands-on to create and implement innovative campaigns for concert booking, marketing & publicity, college radio airplay and Internet exposure. The goal of the project is for MBP students to take on and overcome the numerous obstacles involved in building a public image for a breaking band.

If you are interested in joining a program that will prepare you for a music industry job through a combination of teaching and first-hand experience, contact the MI Admissions Department for more information about MBP.
