VIT's very own LaToya London passed through the American Idol ranks to reach the top four of the 2004 American Idol competition before being voted out on May 12. London gained rave reviews from audiences and judges alike- even the prickly Simon- before leaving the show, and her departure has provoked considerable controversy.

The Oakland, California native was snatched from VIT classes during the Fall 2003 quarter to concentrate on intensive preparations for the competition. While in school, she impressed her teachers and fellow students with her warmth, honesty and outstanding talent, and everyone at MI is proud of her accomplishments. Despite leaving the competition, a nationwide tour is guaranteed and major career opportunities are in the works. Congratulations LaToya!
