GIT Department Head Beth Marlis is traveling to Baltimore, Maryland for the First World Guitar Congress, taking place from June 2-9, 2004.

The World Guitar Congress, an outgrowth of highly successful World Cello Conferences, is designed to showcase all aspects of the international guitar community from luthiers to educators to performers, encompassing every style from classical to rock and blues. In addition to her duties as a member of the Steering Committee, Marlis will be performing as a guest artist and moderating symposia on Women in Jazz, Rock and Guitar Education, Session Players and the future of guitar. Other performers include such guitar luminaries as Albert Lee, Les Paul, Hubert Sumlin, John Scofield and Andy Summers as well as GIT grads Howard Alden and Jennifer Batten.
