GIT Presents Scholarship to Rock Guitar Competition Winner
Aug 15, 2007

GIT has awarded a full-tuition scholarship to 17-year-old Canadian guitarist Jamie Robinson, the winner of the 2007 North American Rock Guitar Competition. Jamie plans to attend GIT beginning in Fall 2008.

Robinson was tagged "the best rock guitarist on the continent" during the competition that featured finalists from countries including the US, Canada, Brazil and Russia. The event took place at the University at Buffalo as part of the seventh annual WNED Buffalo Niagara Guitar Festival in June 2007.

Robinson, who comes from Pickering, Ontario, was awarded a cash prize, a Les Paul Supreme, the Tommy Tedesco Award, named in honor of the GIT founding father and LA studio legend dubbed “the most recorded guitarist in history”. Celebrity judges included John 5, Jude Gold (Guitar Player), Beth Marlis (GIT Director), Terry Lickona (Austin City Limits), and Frank Johns (Gibson Guitars).

Robinson, a devoted rocker, works daily on songwriting, performing, and recording and has been known to practice 8 to 11 hours a day for months at a time. His distinctive, original flavor shines in infectious tunes inspired by a pure passion for music. He describes his style as a “hot hybrid crafted from the finest rock, jazz and electronic elements.”

Welcome to GIT Jamie, and congratulations
