MI is preparing for this October's official debut of a new
Associate of Arts Degree Program for bass, guitar, drums, keyboards and vocals.
Replacing the former Professional Certificate program, the new AA-Occupational degree program combines the four-quarter Performance Certificate program with another two quarters of intensive training in higher-level musicianship, technique, and professional skills. Each instrument specialty also offers AA-specific recording classes that give students a chance to gain studio experience as they create their demo CD.
Like MI's Performance Certificate and Bachelor Degree programs, the AA program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (the Occupational Emphasis means that it's an all-music program that does not require students to take General Education classes). As an accredited program, AA-O students who are US citizens qualify for government financial aid, and non-US citizens qualify for an F-1 visa.
