Voice Program Announces New Career Tracks

Beginning with the Fall 2008 quarter, MI’s innovative Associate of Arts (Voice) program announces exciting new course options designed to prepare singers for careers as contemporary artists and professionals. Adding to the program’s extensive core training in technique, musicianship and performing experience, students will also be able to choose between specially-designed elective packages providing advanced study in the three most popular career tracks for singers:

Performer
Prepares singers to step into the spotlight and perform with style and confidence (courses include Stage Movement, Acting for Singers, Image Development, Songwriting and more)

Singer-Songwriter
>Advanced songwriting, self-accompaniment and performing skills for the original solo artist (courses include Advanced Songwriting, Songwriters in the Round, How to Market Your Songs and more)

Vocal Professional
Prepares vocalists to handle virtually any professional challenge on stage, in the studio, and as an instructor (courses include Vocal Teacher Training, Advanced Sightsinging, Studio Background Vocals and more)

>New or modified core classes for all voice students include Artist Showcase Performance (weekly private rehearsals preparing each student for the final public showcase), Artist Recording Sessions (weekly individual sessions culminating in the creation of professional-level recordings), Art of Preparation (learn to achieve consistent “in the zone” performances) and Arranging for Singers (learn popular music software for creating professional demos, arrangements and lead sheets).
