Temp Scoring Clinic with Lee Scott

|    May 28, 2010

On Friday, May 28 at 1pm in Studio E, MI’s Audio Engineering Department presents a special clinic on Temp Scoring with music editor/composer Lee Scott. On most film productions, before a composer is hired a music editor is assigned to create a temporary score (“temp score”) to indicate the overall musical direction desired by the director. This clinic examines the creative role of the music editor in this process.

After receiving a B.A. in Composition from the University of Georgia, Scott completed his MFA in Composition and Electronic Music at CalArts under renowned professor Morton Subotnick. Among his diverse professional credits, he has worked as a copyist for Frank Zappa, founded a punk band, and written and produced music for cartoons, computer games, hip-hop artists and world electronica. For the past fifteen years, he has worked as a music editor and composer for feature films including The Thin Red Line, Moulin Rouge! and Me, Myself and Irene.

This clinic is open to all MI students. Space is limited; to RSVP, email apryalm@mi.edu with “Scott Clinic” in the subject line.
