Steve Vai World DVD Premiere: "Where the Wild Things Are" Aug 06, 2009
On Thursday, August 6, MI welcomes guitar wizard Steve Vai for the world premiere of his newest concert DVD, Where The Wild Things Are.The concert was recorded at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN before a sold-out audience as part of Vai’s successful Sound Theories tour. Showcasing a set of new compositions, Steve was backed by a hand-picked group of world-class musicians including Bryan Beller (bass), Jeremy Colson (drums), GIT graduate Dave Weiner (guitar, sitar), Alex DePue (violin, keyboards), Ann Marie Calhoun (violin, keyboards) and Zack Wiesinger (lap steel). After the one-hour showing, Steve will conduct a Q&A session with MI students, who will also be able to purchase the new DVD at a special internet price (after the public release date) along with a wide array of CDs and merchandise. Steve will be available to meet, greet, and sign after the event. To top off this exciting evening, Ibanez will be giving a new guitar away to one lucky MI student! This event is open to currently enrolled MI students only.
