Seminar with Electronic Music Innovator Patrick Gleeson
Oct 29, 2009

On Thursday, October 29 at 4:00PM in the Concert Hall, MI’s Audio Engineering Department presents a seminar by acclaimed synthesist, arranger, programmer, producer and engineer Patrick Gleeson on “Effective Recording: A Musician’s View of What Works.”

Patrick Gleeson has worked on hundreds of jazz, R&B, rock and classical albums as well as creating scores for feature films and network television series. Among his major accomplishments, his first recording with Herbie Hancock, Crossings, introduced electronic instruments to jazz; he was the master synthesist and arranger for the film Apocalypse Now, and his analog synthesizer realization of Holst's Planets received a Grammy nomination for Technical Achievement. During the seminar, Gleeson will discuss the engineering aspects of his work with artists as diverse as Hancock, Devo, Francis Ford Coppola, Van Morrison, Patti LaBelle and the Kronos Quartet.

To RSVP, email ritadmin@mi.edu with “Gleeson Clinic” in the subject line. This seminar is open to all MI students and guests.
