Saugus High School Students Connect with MI

Music students from LA-area Saugus High School recently visited MI and were visited in turn by MI’s Bachelor Program Associate Dean, Gary Solt. “The whole experience rocked!” said student Matt Reinstein about the field trip, during which seven students accompanied by Assistant Principal Jamie Timmins toured MI’s facilities, sat in on classes, and learned about the wide range of possible music careers including music recording, production, and guitar-making.

Solt made a reciprocal visit to Saugus, where he conducted a clinic for the Saugus High Jazz Band and treated the students to a taste of contemporary techniques in jazz education (see photograph). Describing the visit, Solt said, “It’s a rarity and a joy to visit a high school where such vibrancy, enthusiasm, and obvious dedication to music are present.”
