MRS Hosts Auditions for Hoobastank, Others

Musicians Referral Service, MI's career center, has been busy lately hosting lots of exclusive auditions for MI students and grads.

The first week of June brought a pair of choice opportunities for BIT students. Island/Def Jam recording artists Hoobastank and Maverick artists Aly & AJ reviewed lineups of bass players. Callbacks are pending.

During the last week of May, MTV held auditions for Score, an upcoming show that will team unknown singer/songwriters with top-notch producers to write, record and perform new songs in an "American Idol"-style competition format. Two MI students - Jordan Lawhead and Niki Watkins - made the cut.

The same week, virtuoso bassist/composer Armand Sabal-Lecco (Stanley Clarke, Sting, Paul Simon, Brian Wilson, Ray Charles, Carole King, Sir George Martin) auditioned guitarists for an upcoming project. GIT instructor Pathik Desai got the offer...

Each week, MRS hosts Hiring Hall, an audition workshop/showcase directed by prominent industry matchmaker Barry Squire exclusively for MI students. Recent Hiring Hall auditions by signed artists looking for various musicians include Mozella (Maverick), Persephone's Bees (Columbia), and I-Nine (J/RCA). Check back regularly for more updates!
