MI Hosts Blastbeat Regional Finals
| Jun 07, 2008
On Saturday, June 7, Musicians Institute is hosting Southern California regional final competition for Blastbeat Ltd. Blastbeat is an international organization headquartered in Ireland that provides in-school programs for high school students to introduce them to potential careers in the music industry. Under the direction of Blastbeat mentors, students form music and multimedia companies (MMC’s), with each member of the company taking on a different job description such as CEO, Sales & Marketing Manager, Talent scout, Web Manager, Video Crew, Photographer, Journalist etc ultimately producing a Battle of the Bands concert in order to identify the best musical talent in their areas. There are two competitions in one, an enterprise competition for the MMCs and a Battle of the Bands for the musicians. Winning Bands are selected from the school concerts by a panel of industry professionals and progress to Regional/National finals. The winning band receives the prize of a Record Deal with Blastspace Records. After the MMC judging on Saturday afternoon, bands will perform during the evening at MI’s main concert hall in Hollywood. Judges will select the winners, who will go on to the international finals in Ireland, while other finalists will receive scholarships to Summer Shot, MI’s unique one-week contemporary music program in performance and recording to be held from June 23-28.
