MI, Carvin Announce Scholarship Winner
| Oct 15, 2008
Carvin Corporation, makers of Carvin guitars, amplifiers and pro audio gear, joins with MI’s Guitar Institute of Technology to congratulate the first recipient of the newly-created Carvin Scholarship: Alex Hughes of Lilyfield, Australia, who is entering the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program. In addition to a tuition award, Alex received an assortment of Carvin merchandise as well as a new Carvin guitar, presented during MI's fall orientation ceremony by GIT Director Beth Marlis (see photo). Each fall and spring, the Carvin Scholarship will be awarded to a new student enrolling in the AA (Guitar) program. Winners are chosen by GIT Director Marlis based on stylistic versatility, musicality, and technical ability (see MI’s website for details on how to apply for upcoming scholarships). Ms. Marlis stated, “On behalf of both Carvin and MI, I congratulate Alex on winning this prestigious award and all of us look forward to helping him reach his full potential. The Carvin Scholarship will help provide talented students like Alex with the support and recognition they need to launch successful careers in the music industry.”Carvin has been manufacturing custom electric and acoustic guitars and basses as well as guitar and bass amplifiers, pro audio gear, mixers, speakers and other accessories for over sixty years. The company has long been active in its support for music education, which has included supplying PA enclosures for all of MI’s performance facilities.
