Inventive Mixing Clinic with Eric Thorngren

|    Feb 27, 2009

On Friday, February 27th MI’s Audio Engineering program sponsors a special clinic with engineer Eric Thorngren. During the session, Eric will show students how to use relatively simple music mixing techniques to create original new parts from existing tracks.

Eric Thorngren, a two-time Grammy nominated engineer, began his career as a staff engineer at the famous Sugar Hill Records in Englewood, New Jersey, where he worked with groundbreaking and innovative artists such as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and the Sugarhill Gang. From there, he went on to record and mix multi-platinum albums for artists including Bob Marley (Legend), Robert Palmer, the Talking Heads, The Eurhythmics, Cyndi Lauper, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Creeper Lagoon, and Hootie and the Blowfish. Eric has also recorded music for numerous films and TV shows, including the recent films Stranger Than Fiction and 30 Days of Night.

This clinic is open to MI students only, with current Audio Engineering students receiving priority. To RSVP, email ritadmin@mi.edu with “Inventive Mixing Clinic” in the subject line.
