GIT Welcomes Solo Guitar Virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel
Jul 19, 2005

On Thursday, July 19th, GIT is proud to welcome recording and performing artist Tommy Emmanuel for a special afternoon clinic. Students are sure to be transfixed as the Aussie phenomenon brings his creative, cutting edge finger-style acoustic guitar approach to GIT for the first time.

“I think he’s probably the greatest finger-picker in the world today,” guitar legend Chet Atkins commented a few months prior to his death in 2001. The consummate musician was voted Rolling Stone (Australia) Magazine’s “Most Popular Guitarist” for two consecutive years and has earned four Platinum and three Gold albums among his sales-record-setting 15 releases. Grammy-nominated Emmanuel has also performed alongside innumerable musical legends, including Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, Sir George Martin, Hank Marvin and Joe Walsh.
