Drum Magazine Features MI Instructor Roundtable

The April 2010 issue of Drum magazine (available now) features a "Groove Roundtable" with MI drum instructors Charlie Waymire and Bernie Galane, Drum Program Director and instructor Tim Pedersen, and bass instructor Ernest Tibbs. The discussion focuses on the importance of groove, groove development, the art of listening and the role of the drummer. Pedersen said, "It was exciting to have the opportunity to deliberate over groove, not only with other drummers, but also with a bass player as talented as Ernest. Young players today tend to spend much of their time playing alone, so it’s important for them to understand that the art of groove is a communal effort."
