"Ask the Mixers:" Top Mixing Engineers Share Insights at Free, Open-to-the-Public Event

On Wednesday, August 25 at 8:00pm in the Concert Hall, MI’s Audio Engineering department, in collaboration with A-Designs Audio, Ronan’s Recording Show, Pearlman Microphones, and Pete’s Place presents “Ask the Mixers,” a special panel discussion featuring five of the industry’s top mix engineers sharing insights into the craft and business of mixing music.

Panelists include Dylan “3-D” Dresdow, Ronan Chris Murphy, John Rudd, Tony Shepperd, and Erik Zobler (see bio information below). This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – reservations are not required; seating is on a first come-first serve basis.

Dylan “3-D” Dresdow
Grammy winner Dylan “3-D” Dresdow has mixed Michael Jackson, Rihanna,  Flo Rida,  Kelis, Usher with O.M.G, and recently "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Got A Feeling" (the best-selling download of all time) by The Black Eyed Peas, which holds the record for the longest successive #1 chart run by a duo or group in the Billboard's Hot 100's history.

Ronan Chris Murphy
Ronan’s diverse discography ranges from YouTube sensation Tay Zonday to over a dozen albums with King Crimson.  He’s known as the man behind the boards for virtuosos including Terry Bozzio, Steve Morse, Chucho Valdes, Tony Levin, Nels Cline and side projects with members of Tool, Weezer and Ministry.

John Rodd
John is internationally known for orchestral film score recording and mixing, and has worked on hundreds of films (including seven years as scoring recordist at 20th Century Fox). In addition to film work, he is also one of the top music engineers and music mixers for big budget videogames including World of Warcraft, Assassins Creed II, and Avatar: The Game.

Tony Shepperd
Tony is a mixer known as the go-to guy for mixing some of the best vocalists in pop and R&B. His credits include Whitney Houston, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Kenny Loggins, Chicago, Elton John, Back Street Boys, Boyz II Men, Madonna, Take 6, Lionel Richie, Queen Latifah.

Erik Zobler
Erik has engineered and mixed hundreds of albums, DVDs, and TV and film scores.  He is also a mastering engineer, front-of-house live sound mixer, and a writer for Mix Magazine.   His credits include Miles Davis, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Al Jarreau, Stanley Clarke, Bob James, and George Duke.
