ASCAP Presents Panel on "Getting Paid From Over the Pond"

On Wednesday, May 20 from 7:15pm to 8:45pm, MI hosts ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul Team for an international music publishing panel discussion on Getting Paid…From Over The Pond.

This event is free and open to the public with no RSVP required (seating is first come-first served). It will be held in MI’s Concert Hall:

Panelists include:

Alan Melina (Moderator; Personal Manager, Music Publisher and Music Industry Consultant)
Alan is a senior music executive with more 38 yrs experience in the music business. He has signed & represented Lady Gaga, Sade, David Bowie, Dead Or Alive (recently resurrected by Flo Rida) & The Cult. Currently, Alan is the Managing Partner of the personal management firm New Heights Entertainment, LLC (NHE) & is managing Partner of the independent music publishing group New Heat Music (NHM).

Derek Bramble (Singer/ Songwriter/ Producer)
Bramble is the music industry’s best-kept secret; the man behind the scenes who is responsible for certified double, triple, & even 5 time platinum albums. After leaving Heatwave at age 20, Bramble went on to have a string of Top Twenty hits in England & Europe with various artists & bands such as David Bowie, Faith Hill, Will Smith & Whitney Houston & many more. Bramble has a strong knowledge of the music business & passion for working within any genre of music.

Will Griggs (VP of Domestic Placements and New Media)
Griggs has helped many artists that include but are not limited to: Kindred the Family Soul, India Arie, Raheem DeVaughn, Julie Dexter, Cee Lo Green, JOI, Talib Kweli, Donnie, Pat "Sleepy" Brown, and Laurnea just to name a few. Griggs is now VP Domestic Placement and New Media for The Music Umbrella. The Music Umbrella is a music licensing and management firm that has been around for over 28 years.

Sindee Levin (Entertainment Attorney)
Sindee Levin is a veteran entertainment attorney whose credentials include business affairs at major film studios, music publishing, mechanical collection, & extensive private practice. A noted expert who speaks at conferences, panels & seminars nationwide, she is a well-versed authority on international & domestic business models. A 30+ yrs Hollywood veteran a powerful advocate for songwriters, composers, recording artists, music publishers & record labels.

Darrell Thompson (Entertainment Attorney)
Darrell Thompson is a highly regarded transactional entertainment attorney. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he received both his BA (’87) and JD (’90). Mr. Thompson started his own firm right out of law school & was fortunate to gain clients such as Raphael Saadiq of Tony, Tone, Toni, Montell Jordan, D’Angelo & Teddy Riley. Mr. Thompson also has an impressive roster of clients ranging from pop, rap, r&b, and gospel.
