Artist & Career Services Provides Direct Access to Music Publishers Nov 27, 2008
MI’s Artist and Career Services office has created a new service that provides MI students and alumni with a direct connection to three top music publishing companies. Eligible artists may submit recordings of their original compositions to ACS, which will screen the material to assure that it meets basic industry standards of quality before sending it on to the publishers, who will then determine if it meets their needs for use in film, TV and video game settings. With MI acting as the pre-screener, the publishers are assured of getting higher-quality submissions and MI artists get the chance to have their music heard by publishers who normally turn away unsolicited music.Publishers taking part in the project include Crucial Music, Don Williams Music Group, and Levy Music Publishing LLC. To submit music, eligible artists must contact ACS Director Todd Berhorst (toddb@mi.edu) for further instructions.
