"Visiting with Huell Howser" Spotlights Musicians Institute
| Sep 09, 2010
This Thursday, September 9 at 7:30pm, long-running California-based documentary series Visiting with Huell Howser (airing in Southern California on PBS station KCET), devotes an entire half-hour episode to Musicians Institute. The episode is based on a recent visit during which Huell toured the MI campus and interviewed students and teachers. Guiding Huell during the tour was MI’s Vice President of Programs, Keith Wyatt, who said, “Huell first approached us about doing a show on MI several years ago, and we’re very excited that it finally happened. It was remarkable to see how many students of all backgrounds recognized Huell and also to see him walk up to just about anyone and start a conversation – he has a genuine enthusiasm for people that cuts right across language and culture. Huell is the real deal, and being featured on his show really feels like we’ve made it.”
Tennessee native Howser joined KCET as producer of Videolog in 1987 and has since become a Southern California Public TV institution through his various series highlighting aspects of California culture, including California's Golden Parks, California's Water, Our Neighborhoods, The Bench, Road Trip, and California’s Gold.
