From Sept. 29 – Oct. 4 Musicians Institute will be the site for the second annual Ole Pop & Urban Songwriters Camp.
Ole is a globally competitive, Canadian owned, full-service music publisher founded by Robert Ott (former VP/GM BMGMP Canada) and Tim Laing (former radio and TV producer and finance executive). The company boasts a team of 26 experienced industry professionals focused on acquisitions, creative development and administration worldwide. With offices in Toronto, Los Angeles and Nashville, in just four short years ole has grown into Canada’s largest independent music publisher.
The ole catalog includes over thirty-five thousand songs and thirty thousand hours of TV music across all genres. ole serves as the exclusive Canadian sub-publisher for the prominent Bucks Music Group – home of the James Blunt smash “You’re Beautiful” and Beyonce and Shakira’s “Beautiful Liar.”
Acting on a mandate from the Canadian government to develop Canadian songwriting talent, the Ole Songcamp invites Pop/Urban songwriters from Canada, the US, UK and Europe, including Grammy & Juno Award winners, to collaborate on writing at least one song per day for five days (note: participation in the Songcamp is by invitation only and is not open to observers). By the conclusion of the camp, approximately 35-40 new copyrights will be created for the purposes of exploitation on records and in TV and Film. A&R representatives will assign writers to write for specific artists and record demos on site in MI’s studios with MI students providing voice talent.
