Roland Equips New GAIA Lab at MI

|    Aug 03, 2010

Roland Corporation and Musicians Institute are proud to announce the addition of Roland GAIA SH-01 Synthesizers to MI’s Keyboard Technology lab.

“Most of our students are too young to have experimented with a lot of hardware synths—they typically have more experience with synth plug-ins and soft-synths, said Kevin Comstock, Director of MI’s Keyboard Technology program. “But the user interface on soft synths tend to be clunky and unintuitive, requiring students to use a computer mouse to turn a knob. With the GAIA, our students get immediate aural and tactile gratification, which helps to solidify their programming skills and quickly create one-of-a-kind, useable sounds much faster than they could otherwise.”

Added Roland product manager Vince Laduca, “Roland has long been committed to music education and it continues to be a high priority. The new GAIA SH-01 synthesizer is a perfect fit for students learning synthesis.  The front panel display has all the parameters laid out in sequence so they can understand signal flow.”
