On Saturday, June 7 MI hosted the regional finals for Blastbeat Ltd. an international organization devoted to encouraging up-and-coming music business entrepreneurs and performers. During the day-long event, students from Southern California-area high schools displayed the results of months-long efforts to form multi-media artist promotion companies (MMC's) representing outstanding performing talent. Following the impressive afternoon MMC presentations, bands took the stage and put on a show ranging from alternative rock to metal, contemporary jazz, ska and hip-hop/rock fusion. The winning band, Something Else, will accompany the winning MMC representatives as they compete in the world finals to be held in Dublin, Ireland later this year.
