MI Hosts Free Hearing Screening
| May 07, 2004
On Friday, May 7 between 10:00am and 4:00pm, a mobile hearing screening van and certified technicians will be stationed at the Musicians Institute administering free hearing tests to the public and distributing ear plugs and a tip sheet on how to adopt a healthy hearing lifestyle. The World Council on Hearing Health is visiting Los Angeles as part of its first six-city tour across the U.S. with its Hearing Healthy Vans, to provide free screenings to the public with the goal of testing 1,000 people in the month of May, Better Speech & Hearing Month. The WCHH is educating the public on prevention of hearing impairment, one of the most prevalent and overlooked health concerns in the U.S. today. Contemporary musicians are often exposed to continuous high sound levels that can lead to eventual hearing loss, so Musicians Institute is particularly concerned about promoting hearing health. The World Council on Hearing Health was launched by the Deafness Research Foundation to put hearing health on the global agenda by promoting awareness, advocacy, education and legislation. To join the World Council on Hearing Health or to learn about a Hearing Healthy Van visit to your neighborhood visit online (www.WCHH.com) or dial toll-free at 1-800– 829-5934.
