Drum Clinic with Funk Innovator Mike Clark

PIT welcomes funk drum innovator Mike Clark in a clinic appearance on Wednesday, May 14. Clark gained worldwide recognition as one of America's foremost jazz and funk drummers while playing with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters in the early 1970's. His innovative, incisive playing on Hancock's album Thrust garnered him an international cult following.

Mike's beats have been among the most-sampled by producers and musicians as diverse as NWA, Grandmaster Flash, Janet Jackson, De la Soul, Christine Aguilera, Prince and many others. He has performed and recorded with the likes of Herbie Hancock, The Headhunters, Paul Jackson Jr., Bobby Hutcherson, Woody Shaw, Joe Henderson, Pharoah Sanders, Brand X, Bill Summers, Albert King, Sly Stone, Shawn Phillips, Freddie King and Ernie Watts
