Marlon Saunders Vocal Workshop
| May 12, 2009
On Tuesday May 12, MI’s Voice program presents a special workshop with noted vocalist and educator Marlon Saunders. During the session, Saunders will work with students one-on-one to develop a “seamless voice" and also touch on techniques for group singing, the history and style of Soul music, life as a professional vocalist and stylistic approaches to Pop, Rock, and R&B singing. A former professor of voice at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Marlon appeared recently as the Calypso Singer in the popular Disney film, Enchanted, singing the Oscar-nominated song “That’s How You Know” with Amy Adams. He also performed the song with Tony award-winner Kristin Chenoweth live at the 80th Annual Academy Awards. Marlon has recorded and/or toured with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill and Nine Inch Nails. For several years, he has been a member of Bobby McFerrin’s acclaimed vocal group, Voicestra. Marlon has sung on over 100 radio and television commercials.
